I am seeing more and more quality control and machine vision applications in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), where automated inspection of vehicles and their contents is performed for border control, port security and rail inspection applications.
This stuff is not for the tiny embedded systems that many of us work on every day, but for the next level up in performance and capability, Linux is an awfully appealing option.
